Viva Italia!

On April 27th our smiling Berries went to Trieste. Located at end of a narrow strip of Italian territory between the Adriatic Sea and Slovenia, only 30 kilometres from Croatia.
Acting as tourists, they visited the main attractions of this town, beginning with Castello Miramare. It was built in the middle of the 19th century under the Archduke Maximilian. The castle has a wonderful garden with a variety of trees and flowers, and a fabulous collection of bronze statues from the Roman Empire. Our berries fully enjoyed walking through this sunny garden!
it was still sunny as they went into the city centre to have lunch in an authentic restaurant. The menu? Pastas and pizzas! After this delicious lunch break, they visited some monuments, such as the cathedral of Trieste, the Roman theatre and Piazza Unità d’italia, the main square in Trieste, where there was a vintage car rally.
On their way back, they made a detour to Rijeka, a city in Croatia. There, they walked through the city and bought some food to have their dinner by the sea.
The luxury of freedom was real!
