Fresh wind from Greece

On the 21th of May 2018 we were visited by a nice couple from Greece! Chrysoula and her husband spent 3 days with us to see what the luxury of freedom at BIG BERRY Kolpa River looks like. There was not much time to see all of our beautiful attractions, so we headed to the Krupa River spring shortly after their arrival. The beauty of this place was breathtaking. Surrounded by the refreshing atmosphere, we walked along the Krupa River all the way to its spring. Shortly after the walk, we were welcomed by the owners of Kmetija Župančič with a traditional dinner and an interesting visit in their museum which recounts the black olm's life (‘human fish’) that is endemic to this part of the world. We were in the middle of nowhere. No cars, no urban noises, no pressure! We could only hear frogs and birds’ calls near the river. What more could we ask for?

On the second day, we went to visit the Oljarna Pečarič in order to taste local oils with healing powers and to do a tour of the oil factory. It was surely an extraordinary tasting experience! We discovered some of the unique oil flavours of Bela Krajina! Back at the resort, our Greek couple went canoeing on the Kolpa River and then spent some free time at their BBhouse. The day continued with a visit to the Kmetija Pavlovič, our supplier of strawberries ?. We learned something about the process of growing strawberries and we tasted their wide range of products, from their fruit to their wine. Yummy! As the sun set we went to Gostišče Veselič, our marvellous partner-restaurant, where we had a delicious dinner.
The last day came so soon! Our first stop on the last day was at Domače dobrote Mojca, which makes treats and delicacies. We also visited te gothic chuches Tri fare. After that, we went to Domačija Šrajf, a traditional home where they bake pastries and the famous Belokranjska pogača! After our busy morning, we let our bloggers take a break at the resort before going to visit the Domačija Kuzma. We did a tour of their old mill and learned more about the process of bread making in the area that is over centuries old. Last but not least, we tasted the local alcohol drink of Slovenia: Rakia!
We really enjoyed spending those three days with Chrysoula and her husband! We thank them for having brought their positive mood with them!
