It is the biggest youth sports meeting in Europe that took place from June 16th to June 19th in Klagenfurt. About 8,000 athletes, aged between 9 and 21, from 40 different countries participated in this years United World Games in Klagenfurt. 9,000 people participated in the opening ceremony last thursday. But, after the games is before the games which is why the organizing assiciation has started to prepare next year's games. Staff members spread all over the place to seek and meet potential participating teams. Looking back on a successful edition of the United World Games this year, the organisors want to grow bigger. Within the next two year they want to host 10,000 participants. Expanding the number of people simultaneously means to find an additional location. Hosting 8,000 athletes plus their supervisors and stage 1,200 competitions in 10 disciplines has brought Klagenfurt to it's limits. In order to be able to grow bigger the organisers announced Villach to be the second location of the games next year. Klagenfurt and Villach together have enough sports and accommodation facilities to host an even bigger version of the United World Games. Both sides are eager to realise this project together.
Being to far away to help to host the United World Games, BIG BERRY helps out another sports event. This weekend we will be hosting the first tournament of the KOLPA BEACH TOUR 2016. We are excited for thrilling volleyball games and great sportsmenship in the beautiful surrounding of our camp.
