It is one of the most impressive archaelogical places in Romania which is to be restored and preserved. Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, the former capital of Roman Dacia in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, as well as its Amphitheater and Forum will be restored and rebuilt in order to restore the appearance of the site from 2,000 years ago. The projects seeks to be funded by the EU as it will require about 4.5 million Euro. It aims to save and highlight the cultural heritage. Archaeologists, professors and architects will be involved to benefit from their archaeological researches at Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa. Starting next year in spring, the project will very likely last four years and be split into two stages. Starting with the restoration and preservation works for two years, the project will finish with rebuilding the Amphitheater and the Forum. The Amphitheater will then be able to host up to 5,000 people and will be the venue for many outdoor cultural events.
