Greek church in Constanta

In the historical area of Constanta, on Mircea cel Batran street, stands a beautiful Greek church “Metamorphosis”. The story of the church began already half a century ago, when it marked the birth of the first Christian place of worship in Constanta.  It was designed by the Greek architect Iani Teoharidi with requirements imposed by the sultan.

The building of the church was fully completed in 1868. During its history it has been the place of many significant events and it is the home of some precious objects such as four Murano crystal chandeliers, silver candlesticks brought from Constantinople and icons crafted in 1812-1870.
