Oljarna Pečarič is an oil production fabric, which dates back from 1937 – a long lasting tradition. The old father Niko and his brothers Martin, Jože and Tone produced before the World War I walnut oil, which was then used for lighting. The walnut kernels could only be pressed in a wine press, as they did not have any more suitable ones. Often, walnut kernels were also used for lighting: they were simply lit up, they illuminated the space, and when the kernels were burnt, they used the other.
In 1990, 350 walnut trees were planted and over 300 hazelnuts were sub-cultured. As long as Mr. Martin did not decide on his own press, he wiped the walnut and hazel kernels into Germany, which was time-consuming and expensive.
Now it has an independent production, which it carries out as a supplementary activity on the farm. All families involved in harvesting fruit, cleaning plantations, drying kernels and pressing were involved in the production of various types of oils as well.
Today, the production has risen up to 7000 liters per year. According to Mr. Martin Pečarič, they have reached a level, which is worth the applause, but has yet not revealed the Oljarna’s full potential. Oljarna Pečarič produces numerous kinds of olive oils, each one being with a conducive influence over our bodies – bringing healthy unsaturated fats and keeping the heart system in check.
However, the production does not just end with olive oil types. In addition, at Pečarič, you could find various nuts and seeds, and chocolate, all domestically produced.
The products are sold in a home house in Drašići in a personal, packed label with labels.
