Luxury of freedom

Natural beauty - Mirabell Gardens

You are in the city but you can still enjoy some fresh air in one of the most beautiful places in Salzburg: Mirabell Gardens!

Located in the heart of the city, Mirabell Gardens is part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as the Mirabell Palace.

Mirabell Palace and its courtyard were built in 1606 by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his beloved Salome Alt. Today the palace is known for hosting parties, mainly weddings.

According to Salzburg.info website, Mirabell Gardens were “redesigned under archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun in 1690. The underlying geometric form, which is typical for the Baroque, is still clearly recognisable. The visual orientation towards the cathedral and fortress adds to the grandeur of the gardens – simultaneously incorporating them into the overall historical ensemble of the city.”
