Luxury of freedom

Mozartplatz

Mozartplatz is a representative rectangular square in the old town of the city of Salzburg, which was laid out in 1588 as a result of the demolition of several burgher houses under Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau. Across the square, the representative main traffic axis from West to East, which was given additional significance with the construction of the Sigmundstore, ran right across from the university square across the Old Market and the residence square.

In 1620, Paris Lodron left the building grounds in the east of the square to the master builder Santino Solari, the reasons in the north, however, to the High Prince Council Friedrich von Rehlingen. Mozartplatz 1 is the new residence, which today houses the Salzburg Museum.
