As it is already possible in Amsterdam and Berlin, students will be able to live in former cargo containers in Klagenfurt. Opening in September 2016, the container village will be located close to the Alps at the Adria University. Marcel Wild, inventor of this idea, starts a testing phase with 10 containers that will be living space for students. As time moves on this project shall be expanded since there is a need of 200 new spaces for students in the city, stated by Bernd Rausch von Riedergarten who is the project leader.
The caro containers are delivered from Hamburg and are transformed to small apartements in Gailtal Alps. Every living space is 25 qm big and includes sanitary installations, a kitchen and a sleeping area. Students will have to afford 430 € per month for the full-furnished containers, which includes electricity, internet, heating, overheads.
