Ljubljana - Host of The World Congress of Sports For All in 2021

Recently, some exciting news from South Korea arrived all the way to Slovenia. During the TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All) Congress, which is being held from 15th to 19th November 2017 in Seoul, Korea, Janez Sodržnik, Vice President of Slovene Olympic Committee, has been elected as a member of Executive Committe of TAFISA.

The Congress was attended by more than 400 participants from 83 countries from all continents. The main theme of the Congress was “Active World 2030 – Defining a New Horizon”. One of the lectures was "Creating good conditions for the development of sports for all in Slovenia", which was attended by Janez Sodržnik.

Many distinguished guests from the world of international sports and other social organizations supported the efforts of TAFISA at the Congress and presented their vision for the development of sport for all in the future. Among others, part in the Congress took Sam Ramsamy, Commission chairman of the International Olympic Committee for Sport and Active Society, Ban Ke-moon, former General Secretary of the United Nations and dr. Uri Schaefer, President of ICSSPE - International Council for Sports Science and Physical Education.

At the General Assembly of TAFISA, Slovenia presented a candidacy for the organization of the 27th World Congress of TAFISA in 2021 in Ljubljana. Slovenia was competing with Turkey's Istanbul. After the anonymous vote, the members of the Assembly elected Ljubljana.

This year's assembly was also an election. The new Executive Committee was elected for the period 2017-2021. The Assembly elected the current Dr. Ju-Ho Chang and 11 members of the committee, among which is also Janez Sodržnik.

At the end of the General Assembly, a new TAFISA mission was adopted until 2030 under the slogan "For a Better World With Sports for All!"
