Winterfest in Salzburg has long since earned an international name for itself in the contemporary circus world. In fact, this cultural event has developed into the biggest festival for modern circus artistry in the German-speaking regions, and only the very best circus groups are invited to appear.
Around 30,000 visitors gather every winter under the big tops in the Volksgarten. There, they are captivated by a world full of compelling acrobatics, gentle poetry and bizarre tales. The icing on the festival “cake” is provided by an exciting fringe program along with a wide selection of mouthwatering culinary opportunities.
The philosophy behind Winterfest is simple: Give people an oasis of peace and reflection during the otherwise so hectic run-up to Christmas.
