Spela Videčnik - A Shelter in the Alps

A night under the stars is well appreciated among people but what if you are hiking in the Alps and at somewhat 2045m altitude you get tired and the weather changes? It would be irresponsible and dangerous to keep going. It is a luxury to find a shelter that was specifically built for the purpose of protecting hikers from bad weather and giving them a rest. Being built in the course of a project with architect Spela Videčnik, the new shelter in the Kamnik Alps does exactly that. The new shelter is a replacement for the old one and was mainly funded by sponsors and donors from abroad. Most of the project team helped voluntarily and faced a true challenge since the conditions, that are subject to snow, wind, landslides, rugged terraind, scroching sund and wild storms, dictate specific architectural forms and conceptual design. The shelter provides hikers with a place to sleep, eat and enjoy their hiking adventure while being amazed by the view of the valley  Kamniška Bistrica and on the north side to the curd and the surrounding mountains through the panoramic glass.

The BIG BERRY Team just experienced a stunning view and the comfort of resting in a shelter on the mountain as we were trying to conquer Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain. Want to see if we made it?
