BIG BERRY Chef (BB Chef) is the yummiest project launched by BIG BERRY. Aiming to gather the best cooks in BIG BERRY’s kitchens in different destinations, this project had as its first guest Jure Pečarič, the owner and chef of Gostilna Pečarič, an outstanding restaurant located in Ljubljana. Now BIG BERRY is the go-to destination for food lovers in search of recipes inspiration!
About Jure Pečarič
Our first BB Chef - Jure Pečarič is a cook born in Bela Krajina and is now the proud owner and chef of Gostilna Pečarič restaurant.
He got involved into a cooking business really soon since his parents owned a restaurant and despite being very well known already he has some even bigger plans in mind.
He gave us the opportunity to get to know him even better so besides trying his dishes we took the interview with him about some secret things that you can hear and see on our YouTube channel.

We were delighted to have Jure Pečarič cooking 2 dishes for us during our opening event on the 26th of April 2017. Pork fillet with asparagus pure and Polenta breakfast were fantastic!

Jure Pečarič cooking local
In both dishes our cook Jure used products from the local partners. All the special ingredients gave a unique touch and unforgettable flavors you never find anywhere else. Can you imagine chocolate and strawberries flavor paired with pork fillet? Or Polenta with Bela Krajina bees’ honey?
Our respectable partner Kmetija Pavlovič gave us a pleasure to pick and use fresh, high quality local strawberries. BB Chef Jure Pečarič picked berries by hand from his farm and used them in the recipe for his first dish – Pork Fillet with asparagus pure. Zlati Ghee fantastic chocolate with Ghee butter from 100 % happy and grass feed cows was used for pork fillet chocolate and strawberries sauce.
We are thankful for the local Čebelarstvo Veselič honey bees. They pollinate Bela Krajina plants and provides us with sweet honey, that gave healthy sweetness to Polenta.
BIG BERRY experience
Launched on the 28th of April 2017, BB Chef successfully gathered plenty of activities which linked our partners, gastronomy and our 1st BB chef – Pečarič who also prepared some of his recipes in BIG BERRY Kolpa River.
You probably think that he was working non-stop… No! He had time to ENJOY and get some BIG BERRY Experience. Welcome basket and BIG BERRY breakfast with local products from our partners (organic apple juice Lamut from Zupančič, Pogača bred from Domače Dobrote Mojca and other products) was always there to please.
The program started with a welcome meal for Pečarič at BB partner Gostišče Veselič. Later on he went to visit Kmetija Pavlovič from where he collected some berries for his recipes. This was followed by some other activities such as a first full meal cooked and planned exclusively by him, interviews given to BB team and a game called “Trying the Cook”, in which Pečarič needed to guess the food he was trying blindfolded – BIG BERRY selected goods such as chestnuts beer produced by Pivovarna Vizir; strawberry yogurt, by Kmetija Štrucelj and LeGhee from Zlati Ghee. He passed the Taste test 100 %!
A little bird told us that he really loved our project and he is enjoying being a part of it! We are satisfied and we are happy to announce that we had a good start!
