Sleepless in Korea
Visiting South Korean capital on the first days of our arrival made us aware of a completely different lifestyle, compared to where we came from. In this multi-million city, people are rushing everywhere, working a lot and once in a while they manage to squize in a quick lunch during break. Seoul is very alive and it’s a city that never sleeps.
The city of Seoul never sleeps and people are always in the move
Mr. B was lucky enough to wander around busy streets of Seoul
But the city is not the only one lacking sleep. According to statistics, South Koreans are one of the most sleep deprived people in the world. While the average of sleeping is less than 6 hours per day, Koreans doesn't seem to miss it much. On the contrary, they usually look like they got much more sleep than us, who are used to the minimum of 7 hours of sleep per day. One of the reasons they sleep less is because they work more. An average person in South Korea tends to work up to 55 hours per week, what makes them one of the busiest nations in the world.

Our BB remote team could identify with lack of sleep, due to hard work and mostly because of the time differences, since we are working from different parts of the world. Not having an office, doesn’t mean working less. It is challenging to organize your time, but it is nothing less fun, because it allows you to have a freedom of choosing in which corner of the world you will work tomorrow.
Our remote team is working hard even in South Korea...
....but there is nothing that coffee in a good company and a good motto can't solve...
...or a berry smoothy that fills you up with energy for the new day
Even though, in general, they are a hardworking nation and they don't seem to need much sleep, it doesn't mean that they haven't thought about some exceptions. For all the people that appreciate their sleep too much, there are special 'nap cafes' full of cozy corners, where they can go during lunch break to take a quick nap. So, if any of you sleepyheads ever get tired while exploring this amazing city, just stop by to the next cozy cafe and have the power nap you deserve. We surely can't wait to try one of those! Thanks to BB “no office“ policy, we can decide to work in one of those nap cafes, any time.
In Olympic village was no different these days. Everything is very alive and exciting due to the Games and all the interesting content, happenings and events. Although being tired and lacking sleep, people are cheerful and full of positive energy, including athletes and supporters.
