19 th BB Chef - enthusiastic Deni Srdoč
It’s not every day you find a young person who chooses to become full-time cook. Meet Deni Srdoč, 28. He loves food and feels passion for that so much that he decided to pursue his true love career. Deni gave up a career in Electrical Engineering to pursue his culinary dreams, driven solely by passion.
„I chose this career path because it isn't monotonous at all, I can create new dishes every day. It gives me the opportunity to express myself.“ – confirms Deni Srdoč.
Any of us probably would have many questions for this young man about this radical change. Although, Deni for us - is a perfect of example that nothing is impossible if you have the passion… Our time here is limited. We all have something that makes us feel alive, a passionate pursuit that adds a little extra meaning to life, an activity that gives us a sense of fulfillment, of purpose. As a consequence, that‘s what we all should do – to pursue our passion, if we find it.
„I'm a very positive and lively person. Above all, I love my family and my job. Being surrounded by passionate and creative people brings me happiness. I love challenges and hate monotony. “– says Deni.
However, path to becoming a successful chef in today’s world isn’t that easy... This is long. But it kind of has to be. In reality, the road to becoming a chef takes time to travel. It requires countless hours of hard work, especially in the early years. That‘s why Deni was and is practicing a lot:
“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.”
He is only 28 but already gained impressive skills, knowledge and experience in cuisine. Under the mentorship of one of the prominent chefs in Croatia, Zdravko Tomšič, he soon became the main chef replacing his mentor in renowned Croatian restaurant on the shore, Draga di Lovrana. Deni is also a member of international network of JRE restaurants and is currently preparing to face a challenge in his life and boost his career even further.

As things turned out and the wind veered to a favorable direction for this young man, today Deni is managing the restaurant’s whole food & drink offer, from buying supplies and choosing personally every ingredient, to all those paperwork that comes along with the managing position.
Furthermore, he seems to know the secret formula to restaurant menu specials. A restaurant menu isn’t the easy task - must be specifically tailored to fill the needs and desires of the target customers. It‘s kind of the type of high-level planning. Having the potential to deliver such unique satisfaction to others through food provides him a a level of personal gratification, variability and happiness. That‘s incomparable to any other pursuit.
During the event at the BIG BERRY all the visitors firstly were pleased with some exotic appetizers called:

„There wasn't any particular reason for me to cook those meals besides feeling like it in that precise moment. Those meals were perfect for that perfect day. “– shares Deni.
