Abandoned castle

Located on a picturesque curve of the Lahinja River in Slovenian village of Metlika, Gradac Castle can become an unforgettable experience for travelers. The castle is considered to be a national cultural heritage landmark of Slovenia. This abandoned place carries an exceptional historical atmosphere. One can read history and life experience on the walls of Gradac. A very island, on which the castle is located, is covered with a fairytale Renaissance park, which is neglected.

During the Second War War in 1944 Gardac used to be Red Cross headquarters as well as a military school for Partisan officers. In 1945 though it was bombed and damaged.

The castle is full of abandoned clothes and furniture, which a century ago used to be someone’s personal things. One definitely cannot miss a unique chance to experience the thrill of this incredible place.
