The wine region of Wies

Wies is situated in a very rich wine-growing environment. Indeed, the state of Steiermark – in Styria’s region - is producing one of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc and many other wines. 

They are several designated and accessible Styrian wine-growing regions when you come to Wies.  All of them offer their own local speciality and a local and traditional production.

Towards the west side, the Schilcherland is known for its spicy Rosé, a variety that grows on the green meadows. If you go more in the south, you will find - in the Sausal region -  the aromatic Sauvignon Blanc from the typical and traditional vineyards, and towards the south-east direction - the Vulkanland Steiermark – due to its remains of volcanic activity, some more aromatic varieties perfect for the wine connoisseurs.

There are many opportunities to discover, taste and know better Wies’ local products.
