First berries’ trip to Novo Mesto

For us, the four new berries, "day off" means to go discover Slovenia. That’s why we decided to visit the lovely village of Novo Mesto. It was not an easy task, but after we prepared everything for the picnic and arrived on time to catch the train, we finally reached the village.

Gus and I have just arrived at BIG BERRY for the Opening of the Kolpa Resort. So after all the rush involving the event organisation, it felt good to have some time to relax and to explore the region.

Novo Mesto is known for its archaeological heritage. Archaeologists have found a large number of objects from the early Iron Age, also known as the Hallstatt period. It is considered to be one of the biggest medieval archaeological sites in Europe!

Curious to find out what this village is hiding, we started exploring. We were impressed with the appeal of Novo Mesto, a village surrounded by the Krka River, with its two beautiful churches overlooking the entire area. We fell in love with these narrow streets and the well-preserved traditional architecture. Down by the river, we found a mysterious cave, so we went into it and searched for treasure! However, we didn’t find anything except for serenity and peace in this dark and humid place.

This trip was a great opportunity to develop a deeper connection between the berries and to learn more about the heritage of Slovenia.
