Simonič Semiška Penina was chosen for the Anniversary Wine
During your stay at BIG BERRY resort, you have definitely to try the tasty sparkling wines and visit the winery of Simonič Semiška Penina.
It is important to know that wine production has a long tradition in the Simonič family. The Simoničs offer totally ten different kinds of sparkling wine. Their variety ranges from regular known as sparkling wine, over sparkling wine with gold leaves to sparkling wine that has aged in the sea.
Semiška penina was selected at the 70th anniversary of the Biotechnical Faculty. Namelly, the event of 70th anniversary of the Biotechnical Faculty, took place in the Linhart Hall of Cankarjev dom. The solemn academy of the Biotechnical Faculty continued with socializing in the lobby of the hall and presentation of Jubilejna Wines of the Biotechnical Faculty.
The wines were made from students and graduates of the Biotechnical Faculty who applied for the tender. 41 samples were submitted within the deadline, namely seven sparkling wines, 24 white wines, one rose wine and nine red wines. The samples were evaluated by a 7-member committee, which selected wines according to varietal characteristics.
Wines of the Biotechnical Faculty which distinguished between the others are Semiška Penina, Ivan Simoniča Farm from Semiča, Green 2016 and Merlot 2014, Ferjančič Estate from the Mountain, Šipon 2016, Puklavec Family Wines d.o.o. from Ormož and Malvasia Capris 2016 and cabernet sauvignon Capris 2011, Vinakoper from Koper.
Jubilejna wines will be offered by the Biotechnical Faculty to guests during the events, meetings and other special occasions.
