Luxury of freedom

My green day in Salzburg

The Salzburg Festival, Mozart and "The Sound of Music". These keywords are for everyone who speaks about Salzburg. No question: Salzburg is a musical and cultural metropolis! But on a second glance, the city on the Salzach is particularly bright with its green spaces and gardens as well as the city mountains.

Salzburg has a reputation as a festival city. And that's just as well. But to reduce Salzburg exclusively to its pre-eminence in the cultural sphere would not be fair. Anyone who has ever been to the city on the river Salzach has already experienced it anyway. It is the originality of nature that leaves a lasting impression. To get to know the green places of Salzburg, we will take you on an excursion to the green hot spots of Mozartstadt.

"TIME FOR YOURSELF" IN THE MIRABELLGARTEN

We have settled down on one of the many benches in the Mirabellgarten. Facing the face of the sun, we let our gaze wander over the lovingly arranged plantlets and the mighty trees. And as we breathe deeply, the picturesque scenery enchants us and we wander into the times of the princes' bishops: Under Archbishop Johann Ernst Thun the Mirabellgarten got its striking geometrical form in 1690, which from then on emphasizes the optical alignment to the cathedral and the fortress. As one of the first publicly accessible baroque gardens, the Mirabell Garden is today a listed monument. With a large number of statues, fountains and statues, it not only invites you to relax in the middle of the city, but also offers a rich cultural program. In the summer, for example, a visit to the popular Leuchtflunnen concerts should be on the compulsory program of every Salzburg enthusiast.
