It’s time for BIG BERRY to go back to Austria

One more Saturday morning had arrived in BIG BERRY Kolpa River, but this, I swear, would not be just one more, It was the day when part of BIG BERRY team had the mission of opening the doors of one more destination: WIES, in Austria!

We couldn’t believe it was happening again! After one year of trips to Salzburg, Klagenfurt and Mamaia beach, where we started with experimenting BIG BERRY business model in new destinations, we would go for this new amazing experience which is setting up a whole franchise system from the zero.

After a long night without much sleep and a lot of thoughts and anxiety going on, after all it is not every day that you wake up with the mission of opening a new business, Ana, Ivan and I hit the road headed to… the first petrol station we would find open at 5 in the morning, of course we couldn’t reach even Ljubljana without a good-strong coffee! Double espresso for me and a long coffee for Ana and off we went to Maribor.

After a quick stop in Maribor to pick up our CEO, Bostjan, and for a short meeting with a great designer in charge of labeling a new product that will take BIG BERRY name, we headed directly to Wies to meet the BIG BERRY Wies (I love to write it) manager, Markus.

Markus, who is managing the resort in Wies where BIG BERRY house will be placed, couldn’t be any more friendly and keen to get started with BIG BERRY business. Read to answer all the questions we had prepared, he took all off us around to learn and to know better how the area is and where BIG BERRY house is currently located.

Great! We were thrilled to see the river right there, by the house… to see a sign where it was written that on the area by the river it is possible to walk barefoot (things that people who like nature love to see)… a natural swimming pool with a sauna at the same area and all the nature and Austrian tradition emblazoned on the walls of the building.

The lovely weather was just a plus to everything we saw and experienced during this day! After all the work, photo shooting, meeting and agreements, we were ready to go back to Kolpa River, full of energy to carry on this new born franchise, but not before some more sightseeing…

On the way back, our CEO, who was acting like a crazy spontaneous GPS (hehehe), took us to some great places in Austria and Slovenia… As Wies is well known for being a good wine region, we could not leave before trying some good wine. Muscat was our choice and we enjoyed the great view from Weingut Tement winery.

The high tower located in Zgornja Kungota, would be our third stop followed by Maribor, where we had a great Balkan dinner together and visited the oldest vine in the world.
