Hrvoje Grguljaš, the creative photographer from Croatia

Hrvoje Grguljaš is a Croatian photographer who considers himself to be a creative individual, a workaholic and a tech nerd. Since the opening of the BIG BERRY Kolpa resort in 2016, Hrvoje has visited the resort multiple times and participated in many projects.

Originally from Bjelovar, Croatia, Hrvoje has had an interest in cameras when digital photography was still in its beginnings. In his hometown, Hrvoje first learned about photography in a photo section group called ‘Fotoklub Bjelovar’. He also attended various workshops with the Croatian Photographic Union.

‘I am not picky about my shooting habit’

Hrvoje’s photographing style is diverse as he enjoys taking a photo of everything that interests him. The type of photos he often likes to take are creative outdoor shots taken from a low angle. To find inspiration and new aspects, Hrvoje follows social media channels like Youtube and Instagram, but he is also very much influenced by older photographers such as Tošo Dabac from Croatia.

An advantage of being a photographer is to be able to travel and see many beautiful places. Hrvoje has travelled all around Croatia, and his favorite place was RT Kamenjak near Pula. He is always very well prepared for a photography trip: his backpack is filled with all the necessary technological equipment as well as food and water. According to Hrvoje, the real challenge in his work is the weather, but it is something that he can always adapt to.

‘Be creative and experiment’

When thinking about taking the perfect photo, Hrvoje describes it as ‘a photo which can deliver all of my emotions and carry them from the subject onto the observer’. For people wanting to take on photography and perhaps even make it a profession, Hrvoje suggests always trying to be creative and to play with their cameras. An important thing is to experiment and get to know the equipment.

BIG BERRY experience

During his visit to the BIG BERRY Kolpa resort, Hrvoje had especially good experience with people: the great interns and lovely people of the BIG BERRY team as well as friendly local people who were always there to help. The local products served for breakfast and the great relationship with different BIG BERRY partners are also what impressed Hrvoje during his visit.
